Ultra Violet: Pantone Color of the Year 2018

Following a rejuvenating green 2017, the Pantone Color Institute revealed the color for 2018, a dramatic and uplifting hue – Ultra Violet. Every year this color consulting company chooses a color based on the prevalent design trends as well as the overall cultural mood. According to Pantone, “this dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points toward the future.”

The enigmatic purple has always been a reflection of artistic brilliance and unconventionality. It carries with it a mystical quality, often associated with mindfulness. “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come,” Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute explained.

Ultra Violet: Pantone Color of the Year 2018

The Color Institute’s pick for 2018 gives us every reason to shine the spotlight on one of our favorite colored gems – the Amethyst. This fascinatingly gorgeous stone beautifully echoes the richness, intensity and intrigue of Ultra Violet. Once regarded to be equal in value to emerald, ruby and sapphire, the amethyst has been an inseparable part of crown jewels since ages.

Whether set on rings, earrings, pendants or bracelets, the amethyst never fails to captivate the senses. Its vivid hue and endless sparkle can accentuate just about any outfit in your wardrobe, be it casual or formal. Amethysts will look great when paired with outfits in shades of purple, especially lavender and lilac. If bold is what you have in mind, try matching your amethyst jewelry with primary colors like red, yellow and blue. Amethyst and white also make a stunning combination. No matter how you wear this alluring gem, the look will always be beyond magnificent.

Now that purple, or rather Ultra Violet is about to have its ‘big’ moment, we suggest that you gear up already. To prepare for the upcoming year’s trend before everyone else, take a look at Angara’s assortment of amethyst jewelry and grab a piece that matches your personality and style quotient.
