The Oscars 2013: Direct from the Red Carpet

The Oscars this year was special in many ways. It is this year that the prestigious Academy Awards officially became The Oscars. It had the youngest and the oldest nominee in the best actress category and Daniel Day-Lewis became the first actor to receive three Oscars for the best actor category.

Peaches and Creams:

Peaches and creams were the major attraction at The Oscars. Many of the leading ladies opted for lighter hues. We have spotted Jennifer Lawerence, Anna Hathaway, Amy Adams, Octavia Spencer, Fatima Ptacek, Mineko and many A-list celebrities in shades of cream, pale pink and ivory.

The Oscars is where every starlet can feel like a princess. This year Sally Field and Amy Adams in dramatic ball gowns with stunning long trains were the major attractions amongst paparazzi.

While Fan Bingbing and Jennifer Aniston opted for bright strapless gowns, Jenifer Lawrence was picturesque in pale pink and cream bridal inspired off shoulder Dior ball gown.

Amanda Sayfried also picked the quintessential princess ball gowns to get the feel.

Golden Girls:

There was a lot of bling at the event. The best actress nominee Jessica Chastein was sparkling and beaming in her figure hugging golden-hued nude strapless Armani Prive number. And Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek chose black with golden sparkle. They were gorgeous.

But the most beautiful golden statues of the evening were Catherine Zeta Jones in her gold embellished intricately designed Zuhair Murad gown and Renee Zellweger in shimmering gold Carolina Herrera dress.

Silver Linings:

It looks like that the title of the film ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ had a high impact on the fashion of the night. While Jennifer Lawrence received the golden statue for the best actress for the film, it was Halle Berry, Stacy Keibler, Sandra Bullock and Norah Jones who brought out the silver effect through their gorgeous dresses.

Kristen Chenoweth has the silver flames on her bodice and Kelly Osbourne showed the wintery night look in her flowing black gown with glittering silver artwork. The metallic one shoulder dress of Naomi Watts was just outstanding.

Blue Hues:

Blue has been a regular choice for stars during the award season. And the trend continued on Sunday with celebs arriving in shades of blue. Nancy O’Delli in textured blue, Robin Roberts in velvety blue, Reese Witherspoon with little Quvenzhane Wallis in striking blue posed for the paparazzi. Jennifer Hudson, Helen Hunt and Alicia in midnight blue were also amongst the blue trendsetters.

Shades of Spring:

There were some unusual shades of spring. Jennifer Garner wore an intense purple Gucci gown. Jane Fonda opted for a bright lemon straight dress while Maria Menounos was pretty in pink. Fan Bingbing and Gloria Reuban were also bright and beaming in spring shades.

Brilliant Jewels:

The Oscars were all about glamour and glitter. So how can we not pick the jewels of the night. Diamonds as always played a major role in brightening the night. Both white and colored diamonds were the major attraction of the night.

The Oscars have no limit for fashion, trend, glitter and style. There were mermaid gowns, cutout dresses, gowns with ruffles and long trains, embellished outfits, bold rings, dramatic earrings, asymmetrical patterns, off-shoulder dresses and a lot more to fantasize about.
