Peyton Manning for Eli: “I am proud of him and I love him.”
Manning brothers Peyton and Eli played on opposite sides as the Indianapolis Colts beat the New York Giants on Sunday.
The Colts dominated Eli’s New York Giants 38-14 on Sunday night. Actually, the focus was really on Peyton vs. Eli. As speculated, Sunday night NFL saw Peyton Manning using his experience over younger brother Eli. The four time NFL Most Valuable Player Peyton won. Peyton proved he still rules America’s first family of quarterbacks.
“I told him I loved him,” Peyton said of their 10-minute conversation after the game. “I think they will be fine. They play the Titans next week and we’ll being pulling hard for them to help us in the AFC South. We will do our best to help them when we play all these NFC East teams.”
“I am proud of him and I love him.”
The brothers were said to have grabbed the spotlight away from the field with a series of commercials, including one in which Eli locks Peyton in a closet before heading to the stadium! If only!
Eli was hugged by both parents after the loss and refused to address the matchup after the game.
“We couldn’t get into a rhythm,” he said. “The whole first half, when you can’t get first downs, it’s hard as an offense to get into all your plays and your calls, and a lot of three-and-outs.”
“They outplayed us, and that’s what it came down to.”
Father Archie Peyton was asked what he does on nights like this when he has one son on each side. He smiled, shrugged his shoulders and said, “I don’t know. It’s tough.”
Now perhaps Peyton would like to pick a pair of diamond studs for wife Ashley Manning!
Ashley, about people thinking that she is aloof: “I like to stay out of the spotlight. People may think I am aloof, but I’m not, and I am not shy by any means, but I always let Peyton shine.”
ALSO ON SUNDAY NIGHT AT NFL:
The unexpected headliner at NFL on Sunday was Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. He threw his helmet into the stands in the third quarter and security had to retrieve it from the fans. He was reportedly very apologetic when he met with the media, but lost his cool and swore at a reporter there. Then he apologized again! No explanation has been offered as to why he was yelling at the Colts crowd!
