Kate Middleton and Prince William Engagement Ring

Waitey Katie engaged to Prince William –

Called by the media as Waitey Katie, Kate Middleton says that she finds Diana inspirational and she would have loved to meet her. She also said she was very nervous about meeting his father and grandmother, but they were very friendly to her.

On Tuesday, Prince William honored the memory of his mother by proposing with Diana’s 18 carat blue sapphire engagement ring that created such a stir in 1981.

A wealthy commoner rather than an aristocrat, Middleton is the daughter of self-made millionaires. Her father worked for an airline and her mother was a flight attendant before they started a mail-order business specializing in children’s parties, run from their house in southern England.

The couple’s relationship became public with a joint photo on a Swiss skiing holiday in 2004. Middleton then became a media darling — especially after both graduated, which ended a British media agreement to leave William alone while he was at university.

The poised, brunette Middleton — already appearing frequently in the fashion pages —is now a global icon. One of the most photographed women in Britain in her generation; at 28, she is considerably older than Diana when she wed at 20.

The oval blue sapphire ring surrounded by diamonds that was Princess Diana’s was as much centre of shutterbugs as the royal couple.

“This was my way of making sure that my mother didn’t miss out on today,” William said as the couple posed for photographers at St. James’ Palace.

Angara.com has launched its replica of this engagement ring that Prince William gave to Kate Middleton. Available in various price ranges, the ring is a truly a beautiful combination of royalty and modernity.
