2014 Oscars Red Carpet Trends

This year, the Academy Awards was full of entertainment. ’12 Years a Slave’ won for Best Film. The movie not only became a part of history for such a prestigious award, but also made history for the highest honor achieved by an African American director. In addition, comedian and host Ellen DeGeneres entertained guests with her hilarious acts jokes, and clever creation of selfies. Another noteworthy event was the pizza party during the ceremony, in which one of the ‘sexiest man alive’ (Brad Pitt) became the server.

The event was as sparkling and glamorous as it was entertaining. One of the most anticipated celebrity fashion nights didn’t show any signs of disappointment. This year we were dazzled by gorgeous dresses and jewelry sets displayed on the red carpet making their way to the main entrance. Without any further delay, here’s the best dressed from Oscars.

Exceptional Attention to Detail

Fine detailing and heavy sparkled gowns of elegance were the most spectacular style of the evening.

For example, Cate Blanchett was the best winner of the night. While she won the golden trophy for her role in ‘Blue Jasmine’, her flowing beige Giorgio Armani gown with heavy crystal ornaments with embroideries took many stars’ breath away.

Next, Angelina Jolie, who opted for nude tone, was another surprise. The Hollywood royalty picked a heavily ‘flame’ embellished Elle Saab nude couture. Interestingly, no element of black or green was present.

Sally Hawkins, Goldie Hawn and Sarah Paulson also had notable red carpet style.

Finally, that wasn’t the entire story. Portia de Rossi’s halter lattice dress from Naeem Khan to Kristin Chenoweth’s gold Roberto Cavalli dress that showcased scalloped and symmetrical beadwork in matte tulle and gold created a 3D effect. From an audience perspective, we loved celebrity courage and their daringness to think outside the box, but they received much praise and success.

Play of Pastels

Soothing and sensational pastels sizzled at the red carpet this year. Soft shades of pink, blue and crème made major headlines.

Pink:

Penelope Cruz’s signature Grecian look twas dipped in blushing pink. The glamour Goddess was perfect in flowing Giambattista Valli gown. Camila Alves in Gabriela Cadena caped and draped all covered up pale pink gown was elegant. Jada Pinkett-Smith also chose a blush pink flowing dress for the big night.

Crème:

A lovely contrast for the red carpet was spectacular. Naomi Watts’ beaded short sleeved gown, Kristen Bell’s lace insets and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s sparkly nude Reem Acra with embellished bodice and feathered tulle skirt were the special crème highlights of pastel trends.

Nairobi Blue:

That’s how Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong’o described her ice blue Prada gown. The gown with plunging neckline and pleated airy skirt was a perfect selection for Oscars.

Midnight Glamour

Sapphire blue was one of the most admired colors of the evening. The ‘American Hustle’ star Amy Adams was a picture of poise in one-of-a-kind off shoulder sapphire Gucci gown. Sandra Bullock in classic Alexander McQueen had strong gravitational force while Anne Sweeney in her avant-garde blue stomacher dress with the perfect hint of bright red was a step ahead of the crowd.

Bold Black

Black was the bold and beautiful choice for Oscars. Presenter Charlize Theron in black Christian Dior Haute Couture gown with mermaid skirt and illusion straps was nothing lesser than gorgeous. Pregnant Olivia Wilde in Valentino matte crepe mock neck dress was equally adorable. Anne Hathaway repeated her last year’s high-cut satin halter style but this time she was better in black.

Eve-Mavrakis Julia-Roberts-and-Emma-Watson-on-red-carpet-oscars-awards-2014

We like Eve Mavrakis in a pleated silk dress with lots of fine detailing in the décolleté, Julia Roberts in her black lace overlay dress with a spiky lace peplum and Emma Watson in her charcoal Vera Wang top with glittery look and trumpet skirt.

Ravishing Red

The cardinal rule of no red on red carpet didn’t work at Oscars where many celebrities opted for red dress and they were stunning.

Olga Kurylenko, Ukranian model-turned-actress was beautiful in her Suzy Amis Cameron’s sustainably-designed dress. So did TV presenter Shaun Robinson in her long sleeved Romona Keveza silk crepe gown.

Bette-Midler-on-red-carpet-oscars-awards-2014

We also liked the simple and sophisticated red embroidered décolleté gown of Bette Midler created by Reem Acra.

Jennifer-Lawrence-on-red-carpet-oscars-awards-2014

And ultimately we can’t miss to mention the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence who was every inch perfect (managed as she ditched the elaborative wedding-style gown theme from previous year) in strapless Dior peplum dress.

With all those and many more out of the world dresses, the 2014 Oscars was a perfect event to catch the best and versatile fashion trends. We are not done with the Oscar updates, so stay connected to read about the latest jewelry trends and after party wear.
